1. Introduction
Welcome to STLL HAUS (“we”, “our”, or “us”), a matcha and coffee bar in Bell Block, New Plymouth.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information when you browse stllhaus.co, place a pickup or delivery order, or contact us.
By using our website, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
Orders
When you place an order, we collect the details needed to make and hand it over:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- Your Instagram handle, if you choose to give it
- What you ordered, and any notes you add
- Your chosen pickup or delivery time
- Pickup location, or your delivery address and delivery instructions
- How you are paying (bank transfer, or cash or EFTPOS at pickup or delivery)
- A photo of your bank-transfer receipt, when you pay that way
Contact messages
If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message so we can reply.
Technical information
We may collect limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and device information. We use this to keep the site reliable and to limit misuse of the contact form. Your cart is stored in your browser until you place an order or clear it.
We do not ask you to create a customer account, and we do not sign you in with Google.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Take, prepare, and fulfil pickup and delivery orders.
- Send order confirmations and updates to the email address you give us.
- Contact you about an order by phone, email, or Instagram when needed.
- Reply to messages sent through the contact form.
- Confirm bank transfers using the payment proof you upload.
- Keep the website working, including remembering your cart in this browser.
- Prevent misuse, diagnose technical issues, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
4. Orders and Payments
Online orders are paid by bank transfer, or by cash or EFTPOS when you pick up or receive the order. We do not collect or store card numbers on this website.
If you pay by bank transfer, we ask for a photo of the payment so we can match it to your order. Please use your name as the payment reference, as shown at checkout.
Order details are sent to us by email and into our shop ordering system so the order can be made. A confirmation is emailed to you.
5. Information Storage and Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or misuse.
These measures may include:
- Encrypted HTTPS communications.
- Access limited to people who need it to run the shop and the website.
- Secure session cookies for staff sign-in. Customers are not asked to sign in.
While we take reasonable precautions, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
6. Sharing of Information
We share personal information only where it is needed to run STLL HAUS:
- With our email provider, so we can send order emails and receive contact messages.
- With our shop ordering system, so the order can be prepared.
- With our website host and related infrastructure providers.
Those providers may process information only for the service they provide to us. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect the rights, security, and integrity of STLL HAUS and the people who use this website.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it to fulfil orders, answer enquiries, run the shop, and meet accounting or other legal requirements.
You may ask us to delete personal information we hold about you by emailing admin@stllhaus.co.
After we confirm the request, we will delete or anonymise the information unless we need to keep it for a legal or accounting obligation. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire.
8. Cookies and Browser Storage
This website uses a small amount of storage in your browser:
- Your cart, so items stay there while you browse.
- A short-lived copy of your latest order, so the confirmation page can show it.
- A note when you dismiss an on-site notice, so it does not keep reappearing.
- A session cookie when a staff member signs in. This is not used for customers.
We do not use advertising cookies. Embedded maps and review widgets, when they appear, are provided by those services and may use their own cookies under their own policies.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you may ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate.
- Delete personal information, where we are not required to keep it.
Email admin@stllhaus.co and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
10. Third-Party Services
The contact page shows a Google Map of the shop. Google processes that request under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
If a Trustpilot review widget is shown, Trustpilot may process information under its own privacy policy: trustpilot.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Links to Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok leave this website. Those services handle information under their own policies.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our website, ordering, or legal obligations change.
When we do, we will change the Last Updated date above. Where the law requires it, we will give further notice.
